Ride No. 5 – Nagaur Cattle Fair

(26 January 2010 - 06 February 2010)

This ride gives you the opportunity to visit and stay in grand and majestic forts and palaces of Rajasthan.                 An excellent opportunity and experience of riding horses through rural India and visiting well-known Nagaur cattle fair including sightseeing at Jaipur, Bikaner, Gajner wildlife sanctuary, Jodhpur and Delhi.

Day 01 / January 26, 2010:
Arrive in Delhi – You will be met by our representative at the Indira Gandhi International Airport and transfer to 3 / 4  star hotel /resort for overnight stay.

P.S - In case of late or early arrival additional accommodations / transfer can be arranged at extra cost.

Day 02 / January 27, 2010:
Breakfast – Check out and departure to Jaipur (journey of 03 Hrs / 140 Km.) – Sightseeing of City Palace, Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) Jaipur and Observatory (Jantar–Mantar) – Transfer to Jaipur railway station to board overnight train for Bikaner.

Day 03 / January 28, 2010:
AM arrival at Bikaner Railway Station – Transfer to Gajner Palace / campsite Gajner: Gajner Palace is spread over 6000 acres, the palace is a 40-minute drive from Bikaner. Built on the banks of Gajner Lake by Maharaja Sir Ganga Singh ji of Bikaner in early 20th century, the palace was used as hunting resort by Maharajas and visiting British dignitaries. This red sandstone palace is distinguished for its architectural grandeur and luxuriously appointed rooms and suites. Greenery at Gajner palace, lawns and chirping of birds and peacocks make it a truly memorable destination for travelers – transfer by Jeep / Coach – Breakfast on arrival at campsite – Day at leisure – casual ride (02 Hrs).

PM folk dance and music performance by local artistes followed by dinner.

Overnight at Gajner Palace / campsite (tented accommodation)

Day 04 / January 29, 2010:
Breakfast – Drive to Bikaner for sightseeing of Junagarh Fort, Bikaner – lunch at Palace hotel, Bikaner – drive back to Gajner.

PM ride to Gajner wildlife sanctuary.

Overnight at Gajner Palace.
 
Day 05 / January 30, 2010:
Breakfast – AM ride to Jaisinghdesar village – The terrain is soft and replete with small dunes and good for riding. On this ride you might see Indian gazelles or Chinkara and Indian Desert Fox - Lunch – Continue ride and arrive at campsite, Jaisinghdesar – Talk on local wildlife followed by dinner.

Overnight stay at Campsite, Jaisinghdesar.

Day 06 / January 31, 2010:
Breakfast – AM ride to Kakku village through the Thar Desert – Lunch – continue ride to Kakku – Arrive Castle Kakku for overnight stay – You will be entertained in the evening by fire dancers who walk barefoot on live coals and carry them in their mouth in an ancient ceremony to seek blessings of mother goddess – Dinner.

Day 07 /  February 1, 2010:
Ride to Tantwas village – Lunch – continue ride to Tantwas. While riding through this area you will see a lot of Indian gazelle, you might also come across Blue Bull, the largest antelope in Asia and Desert Fox.

Overnight in tented accommodation.

Day 08 / February 2, 2010:
After breakfast ride to Khari village - Lunch – Continue ride through farmlands and sand dunes – arrive Khari campsite – dinner.

Overnight in tented accommodation.

Day 09 / February 3, 2010:
Breakfast – Morning ride to Nagaur – continue ride to Nagaur – arrive Nagaur campsite, which is located very close to cattle fair grounds. The Nagaur Cattle Fair is held every year in the month of January/February and is one of the largest cattle fairs of Rajasthan. People come from all over Rajasthan and adjoining states to buy and sell cattle. Thousands of camels, horses, cows and bullocks can be seen here along with the colourfully dressed people of Rajasthan and other states. The Nagaur bulls are renowned for their strength, size and beauty attracting buyers and sellers from all over the country. One can even go shopping, picking exotic handicrafts.

Day 10 / February 4, 2010:
Breakfast – Departure transfer to Jodhpur (90 Km.) - Sightseeing of Mehrangarh fort & Jaswant Thada – Lunch – Visit the market  and in evening transfer to Jodhpur railway station to board Mandore Express (Departure 1930 Hrs / Arrival 0550 Hrs – Overnight train to Delhi.

Day 11 / February 5, 2010: 
On arrival transfer to Hotel 3/ 4 star hotel,  breakfast  and half-day sightseeing of New Delhi (Humayun’s Tomb, Qutub Minar, President’s House (drive past) & Raj Ghat – Back to hotel.

Day 12 / February 6, 2010:
Breakfast at hotel and sight seeing of Old Delhi including Red Fort, Jama Masjid. Lunch, afternoon free. Later in evening transfer to Indira Gandhi International Airport.
